Anya Anastasia creates experimental art-rock with global influences, made on Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. Anya's lyrics ask questions about our society, conspiring to stir dissent and environmental action. Amidst the grind of modern industrial life, her songs transcribe wonders of the natural world.
Anya’s new single ‘Burrow’ will be released on 19th March 2026 as the sophomore release from her upcoming debut LP ‘Everspring’ - ‘Burrow’ celebrates wild instincts that grip our deeply animal human bones. It’s a real gem for the ears of those looking for something bold, different and brimming with life.
Off the back of the dramatic lead single ‘Two Halves’, Anya has been beguiling music fans and critics with the originality and power of her unique brand of art-rock. Her music pushes experimental folk into psych and desert rock territory, encapsulated by layered hypnotic vocals. Burrow jilts this sonic universe sideways again as unique vocal phrasing carves out a fantastical rhythm and textures of the natural world flood in, as represented by unconventionally used cello, guitar and vocal swells.
Her debut EP ‘Dissenter’ was released in April 2022 and met with great success. Tracks from the EP have been played on Double J and spent months in the charts of Three D Radio and came in at #14 in the 2023 Three D Radio Top 101. The self produced music video to accompany debut single 'Losing Wild' was a finalist in the 2023 Environmental Music Prize.
Nominated for 'Best Folk Artist' at the 2022 South Australian Music Awards, Anya has performed her original music at Woodford Folk Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Adelaide Guitar Festival, Soho Playhouse New York, the Spiegeltent at Southbank Centre in London, and at many other iconic live music venues and festivals around Australia.

PRESS QUOTES
“Stream the compelling latest piece from Australian artist Anya Anastasia’s upcoming debut album ‘Everspring.’ ‘Burrow’ takes a Tishoumaren-inspired math/art rock-y direction with indie folk melodicism between twisting desert riffs and pushing rhythms. A la First Aid Kit meets Mdou Moctar. The warmed-grainy guitars, bass tightness and pounding kick drum create pulsing, bumpy grooves with a subtle palette of cello. Anya Anastasia drapes the instrumental with her vocals like heavenly, magical silk
- extra delicate and refreshing”

"hypnotic and otherworldly...With off-kilter vocal harmonies, sparse yet impactful percussion, and twinkling acoustics, the artist is able to craft a sonic universe while maintaining a welcome simplicity. The innate prowess of Anastasia presents free-spirited, experimental folk on “Burrow,” but attempting to pack all of these colors under one label is a fool’s errand. “Burrow” is unmistakably Anastasia, a jumpy yet subdued introduction to an individuality that can be felt in every note. The artist’s ethereal vocals cascade around the glitchy acoustics, like a rushing creek flowing over a rock; naturally present long before us, yet strangely captivating. “Burrow” is just one preview of Anastasia’s debut LP, yet this latest single is very telling of what the artist has planned for Everspring, and it is shaping up to be something special."

Anya Anastasia’s new single, Burrow, celebrates wild instincts that grip our deeply animal human bones. It’s bold, alive, and brimming with a type of energy that most music doesn’t even attempt.
Sonically, the song exists in a separate realm, somewhere between Joanna Newsom’s otherworldly folk, AURORA’s elemental intensity, Tinariwen’s deep rhythmic roots, and the more adventurous corners of This Is The Kit’s catalogue. It shouldn’t work as a single description, and yet it makes complete sense the moment the music starts. For ears tired of the predictable and hungry for something that actually surprises them, Burrow is an excellent choice.
